Mike Tyson will be travelling Saturday, as he’ll visit three cannabis dispensaries in New Jersey in order to promote the launch of his ear-shaped edibles called ‘Mike Bites’.
As per nj.com, the 56-year-old will be at the Cannabist in Deptford from noon to 1:00pm. From there he’ll head to the Zen Leaf Dispensary in Neptune Township from 2:30pm to 4:00pm. Fans there can win a signed glove from Tyson through Verano’s social or in-store sweepstakes.
Tyson will then end the day with a stop at the Apothecarium’s Lodi dispensary from 5:00pm to 7:30pm. Customers who buy $200 worth of product in the days leading up to the visit will be given the “fast-pass” line and meet with the former champion.
Tyson and his start in the world of cannabis
Tyson spoke to FOX Television stations about his initial hesitation to entering the world of legal cannabis after it had been illegal for so many years.
“After seeing other cannabis companies gradually come to profit, I decided that this is what I want to do,” said Tyson. “It’s hard work, but it’s a sexy business. You are going to lose big in the beginning. As long as you don’t get discouraged, you can be successful.”
For the former boxer, the bitten-ear-shape of the edibles is a way for him to turn his controversial moment with Evander Holyfield 25 years ago into a positive.
“They fined me $3 million for biting his ear,” Tyson said. “Eventually I was able to make that back from people wanting photos with me biting their ears.
“In the first few months after the incident, I was vilified, but then I started getting positive attention from people that just found it exciting and interesting. It’s a way to flip it to the positive side.”
