We hold on to a New Jersey summer as long as we can, and for good reason, but now it’s time to let it go just a little so we can talk about the best soup in the entire state.
Most New Jersey residents don’t think about soup too much in the summer months, but, we really do love our soup in the fall and winter.
In a state where such pride is taken in our foods and flavors, comfort food holds a huge place in our hearts. so, it isn’t easy to single out one place in the Garden State with the best soup in the land.
Fortunately for us, we don’t have to ruffle any feathers. We left that to the fine folks at Eat This, Not That, who put their culinary expertise to the test by venturing to name the best soup place in each state across the nation.
We couldn’t wait to hear which New Jersey location was getting on our fall food bucket list, and now we have our answer, or at least their answer.

Congratulations to the fine folks at Tops Diner in East Newark for claiming the state’s top soup prize. And it’s not just one type of soup in the spotlight.

Tops Diner has been making customers happy for about 80 years, so this is certainly not their first rodeo and not their first honor. But it is a well-deserved one, and now we know where we are going for a great cup of soup this fall.
