ShopRite announced that its 14th annual Veterans Fundraising Campaign at 36 stores in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania raised a total of $700,966 to benefit local veterans organizations. More than $7 million has been raised since the campaign’s inception.

“We’re proud to announce that our annual campaign raised more than $700,000 to benefit local veterans and their families,” said Steve Savas, president, ShopRite Supermarkets (SRS), Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Wakefern Food Corp., the largest retailer-owned supermarket cooperative in the United States with hundreds of ShopRite supermarkets located throughout six states. “During this season of giving we would like to extend a sincere thank you to our generous customers, associates and vendors who give back each year to support our veterans campaign. This initiative is close to our hearts and it’s our way to recognize the important sacrifices our veterans have made.”

To support the initiative, the 36 ShopRite stores operated by SRS throughout the Hudson Valley and Capital Region in New York, along with three New Jersey stores, and one in Pennsylvania, collected donations and organized fundraising events including raffles, barbecues, bingo events and more, with all proceeds from each event directly benefitting veterans organizations.

The top five fundraising stores include: ShopRite of Carmel, ShopRite of Croton, ShopRite of Chester, ShopRite of Fishkill and ShopRite of Westfall Town Center. Raising more than $54,000 this year, ShopRite of Carmel and staff were honored with a dedicated flag at Putnam County’s Row of Honor on Veterans Day. The $700,000 raised during the entire campaign will be divided among local veterans organizations including the Committee for Families of War Veterans, Hudson Valley Honor Flight, Orange County Veterans Food Pantry, Montrose Food Pantry, Vet2Vet, My Brother Vinny and the Tri-County Council for Vietnam Era War Veterans.
