Over 200 ShopRite stores in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland will host fundraisers and special store events this month with a goal of raising more than $1.5 million to support 2,500 local and regional food pantries and soup kitchens.
To raise awareness about ShopRite’s hunger-fighting initiatives, many stores are also marking Help Bag Hunger Week by featuring community leaders and first responders as celebrity guest baggers at checkout. ShopRite customers will also have the option to support their communities by rounding up their change at checkout as a donation to local hunger-fighting organizations. In addition, shoppers who use self-checkout will have the ability to make a donation to fight hunger on the self-checkout screen.
With more than 34 million Americans, including nine million children, suffering from food insecurity, ShopRite Partners In Caring works to lend support to hungry Americans and their families and, ultimately, decrease the number of food insecure families. Since its inception in 1999, ShopRite Partners In Caring has raised more than $62 million over the last two decades for local food banks and organizations that support more than 2,200 charities focused on helping fighting hunger in the communities they serve.
