After the fashion world went wild for Wednesday Addams, H&M is keeping gothic-chic alive in its fall/winter 2023 Studio collection.
Out today, the Stockholm-based label’s almost-all-monochrome line ($25-$499) was inspired by film noir, as seen in the very Mildred Pierce– and Big Sleep-esque tailored suiting, ivory silk wrap dresses, lingerie-inspired tops, oversized bow blouses and a raindrop-print pleated maxi dress that nods to moody late-1940s movie scenes. Keeping with the sophisticated gloom, there are also off-the-shoulder jersey dresses and a very Wednesday-esque A-line mini dress with an exaggerated white collar.
For those still living in the House of Chrome, rhinestone-embellished pieces include a cami, low-rise jeans with a matching bold-shouldered jacket and silver statement jewelry are perfect for channeling Beyoncé’s Virgo season-era Renaissance World Tour. It’s not all black and white: pops of teal and lavender are seen in wool blend sweaters and sheer blouses in ruched and bow silhouettes.

Rounding out the range are luxe leather accessories, such as over-the-knee black leather sock boots, a padded buttery leather black clutch and black opera gloves. The collection marks the 10th anniversary of H&M’s elevated Studio line, which is made mostly of recycled polyester and renewable wood fiber-derived Tencel.
“This season the design team was inspired by horror-movie heroines whose style always stays sophisticated, no matter how spooky the circumstances,” explains H&M Studio concept designer Linda Wikell. “We wanted to channel that pulled-together look with pieces that confer polish but are practical enough to transition effortlessly between situations and seasons.”

The Old Hollywood-inspired range has already been spotted on stars including Elle Fanning, Kate Mara, Amandla Stenberg and Barbie Ferreira model (who all wore pieces from the line at H&M’s guest suite during the first night of Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour in LA) and model Irina Shayk (who sported it at Paris Fashion Week).
