2023 Gotham Classic featuring Rutgers and Mississippi State at The Prudential Center

Rutgers and Mississippi State will compete in the 2023 Gotham Classic on December 23, 2023, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Rutgers – Head Coach: Steve Pikiell, Big TenSteve Pikiell has built Rutgers into an annual contender in the Big Ten, making two out of the last three NCAA Tournaments. The Knights return All-Big Ten center Cliff Omoruyi who led the team in points (13.2 ppg), rebounds (9.6 rpg) and blocks (2.1 bpg) in 2022-23.

Mississippi State – Head Coach: Chris Jans, Southeast ConferenceChris Jans led the Bulldogs to a 21-13 record that culminated in an appearance in the 2023 NCAA Tournament. Mississippi State returns First Team All-Conference forward Tolu Smith who led the team in points (15.7 ppg) and rebounds (8.5 rpg) last season. MSU is currently listed in most “Way Too Early” Top 25 rankings.
