The Fifth is Tchaikovsky’s most consistently optimistic symphony. Chock full of iconic moments and melodies and a burst of energy and drama in the finale, the piece is irresistible. Scriabin’s single concerto for piano is an early work filled with color and romance, and Alexandre Moutouzkine brings great vision and poetry to the work. We open with the hauntingly beautiful depiction of the silk road in Borodin’s colorful tone poem.
