Tell the Camden County Commissioners: We Need Clean Air!

September 19 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

For many of us, the recent Canadian wildfires that made the air here in South Jersey unsafe and difficult to breath were a wake up call. Our air, our health is being threatened by climate crisis. Bold action is needed by our elected officials to protect public health and the planet. In Camden County, our county commissioners need to commit to stop burning our solid waste in the Covanta trash incinerator, a practice that has greatly compromised our air.

Covanta, the trash incineration in Camden City, is where the vast majority of Camden County’s solid waste ends up and is burned. Covanta is polluting our air, is putting the planet and public health at risk, and is perpetuating environmental racism. We need our elected officials to move us away from our dependency on this toxic facility. They need to explore better short term options like landfilling and make a long term investment not in burning more trash but in moving us towards zero waste. As their constituents, we demand they take action!

Join us at the Camden County Commissioners meeting and be an essential voice for climate action and environmental justice. Now’s the time to create the future we want for our communities and our planet!
