Johnny Maestro’s 16 Candles featuring Joel Katz pays homage to an American Rock & Roll Icon. This talented group of musicians performs songs from Johnny Maestro’s beginnings with The Crests through his solo career and then fronting The Brooklyn Bridge. Johnny Maestro’s 16 Candles takes audiences on a journey of the iconic sound of Johnny Maestro’s performing the legendary hits and deep cuts that no other groups perform. 16 Candles will perform your favorites – “My Juanita”/”Sweetest One” “16 Candles”, “Six Nights A Week”, “Step by Step”, “The Angels Listened In”, and “Trouble in Paradise”, “The Great Physician”/”Say It Isn’t So” and the iconic song “Worst That Could Happen”. Maestro’s hits are legendary and are played across the world on radio stations today.
Johnny’s wife Grace created 16 Candles, to keep Johnny’s legacy alive. According to Grace, “There was so much more Johnny wanted to do before he was called to God. My goal is that this new group will continue to perform Johnny’s hits as well as move forward both performing and recording the kind of music he wanted to do.” To make this group a reality, Grace reached out to Johnny’s best friend, Joel Katz, who had been chosen by Johnny to replace him when he couldn’t perform due to illness. “Joel Katz is the lead singer to do it!”
Joel Katz with his strong, smooth tenor voice has fronted the Autumns, the Wizards, the Platinums, the Connotations, Twilight, Ronnie I’s Cliftonaires, the Del-Satins, and the Dymensions. Joel sang background vocals with Pitt and Dickie Harmon on Aaron Neville’s PBS Special. Although Joel sings many kinds of music, his heart is still in group harmony.
16 Candles may be a new group, but the artists are world-class professionals with many years of experience and love for the music of Johnny Maestro. This is one tribute show you don’t want to miss!
