The calendar has officially turned over to fall, paving the way for Morristown’s most popular celebration of the season this weekend.
The annual Festival on the Green will take place rain or shine from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Nearly 150 local business, restaurant and community organizations are expected to take part in this year’s event. offering a variety of attractions for attendees young and old.
The festival was first held in 1994 and has hosted more than 60,000 people annually, according to the Morristown Partnership website. The page called the event “a true testament to a community rich in national history and local pride.”
Dozens of Morristown restaurants and eateries, including Coniglio’s Old Fashioned, Glenbrook Brewery, Revolution Gastropub and Tyree’s Table, will all have tents set up around the Green. A beer tent on Schuyler Place will have games of cornhole along with beers and White Claw drinks for guests 21 and older.
The festival will feature music throughout the afternoon at three locations: the center of the Green, the main stage at the corner of Dehart and South streets, and the sound stage at Dumont Place’s intersection with Morris Street. Acts include Joe Bilotti’s Heart of Gold Band, Shorty Long & the Jersey Horns and the Morris Plains Community Band.
Younger children and families can try out carnival games on North Park Place and visit Kids Place on Speedwell Avenue. The area includes an inflatable corn maze and obstacle course as well as additional musical performers for children.
